MEET THE TRUSTEES AND PATRONS

FOUNDER/ CEO

Susie is a heart-centered soul, with an ingrained love of animals and people. Although she came from a fast-paced corporate world, discovering natural healing put her on a very different path in life.

After training in reiki, aromatherapy and as many holistic therapies as she could, Susie decided to put her new skills to good work. With no previous experience in the world of horses, Susie agreed to carry out some reiki treatments at a local sanctuary. This is where she met Daisy.

When the sanctuary was forced to close, Susie offered to take Daisy and a new resident, Billy, and give them a home. Taking her new equine family to a local livery yard catapulted her into a very different world than she was used to. The key language used was force.

“There has to be a better way…”

Over the next few years, Susie became known around the Midlands as she used reiki and her other holistic skills to help the horses she worked with.

When her name spread as far as Kidderminster, fate intervened and she agreed to rehome Inca, bringing her herd up to 3 members.

With 3 horses in her care, Susie decided to start her charity in 2008. The Healing Horse Sanctuary welcomed another 2 rescues within its first year. The Sanctuary has continued to grow each year, with Susie’s philosophy of using holistic methods and kindness as a guiding light.

I love all animals and being a part of the healing horse sanctuary team is really an honour.

I enjoy looking after the animals and seeing just how happy they are.

As a qualified clinical aromatherapist and reiki practioner, I love anything holistic and natural. So the fact that the sanctuary incorporates complementary health practices as part of its care for the animals is truly wonderful.

I’ve been with the healing horse sanctuary since August 2021. It is the most magical place, and has THE BEST team of people doing amazing work with lovely souls from all walks of life.

It has given me a precious opportunity to ‘give back’ and the sanctuary has a very special place in my heart. It’s truly humbling to see all of our wonderful residents work their magic on everyone that steps foot through the gates.

We have had huge growth in the past 3 years and I’m super excited for the future, and to see how much more magnificent things the sanctuary can and will achieve.

I work as a Special Education Needs (SEN) teacher in the week and I volunteer at the sanctuary at weekends.

I have loved animals since before I could talk and I just love being around them .

Being part of the sanctuary team, is an absolute pleasure, it is such a heart centred place with such beautiful beings living within it.

It's an exceptional place to be and emanates calm and tranquility.

The feeling of love you feel the first time a rescue horse walks up to you and forms a connection is just magical.

Being part of their journey to recovery is the greatest privilege of my life.

I’m an animal lover with a little spare time to give theses beautiful horses, cats and chickens, some much needed love and support .

PATRON

We are thrilled that Alexander J Osborn is now our patron at The Healing Horse Sanctuary.

Alexander is a successful entrepreneur and equestrian with a huge heart. He has so much Love for all animals and is also patron to another animal charity, 

Hector’s Greyhound Rescue. We are thrilled he is now aligned to us too.

He has longstanding ties to the equestrian world, with a deep love of horses and their wellbeing. He competed at a high level and represented the English team, where he achieved gold medal success.

He is a multifaceted public figure whose career has spanned modelling, acting, television production, travel, property, and the arts. With a passion for creativity, style, and entrepreneurship, he has built a diverse portfolio of work including his own brand called Astor Montgomery while maintaining a strong commitment to charitable and community causes.

Alongside his professional achievements, Alexander is recognised for his dedication to animal welfare and community organisations.

With a lifelong love of travel, culture, and the arts, Alexander brings energy, compassion, and experience to every role he undertakes. His commitment to making a positive difference continues through his patronage and support of organisations that enrich lives for both people and animals.
