Max joined us many years ago when his human mum was sadly diagnosed with terminal cancer. She only had a few weeks left to live and it was her dying wish that Max and his brother Ringo came to us, a safe sanctuary where there could live out their days together.

Despite his large size, Max is an extremely gentle and sensitive soul and fits the description of a “gentle giant” perfectly.  He was a grey and white coloured horse when we first had him but as he ages, he seems to just be grey.

His brother, Ringo helped him grow in confidence and he quickly became part of Ruby’s herd, making lots of new friends.  Sadly, Ringo crossed over rainbow bridge in January 2025.  Max really misses him and has been navigating through his emotions with the love and support of his herd and his humans.

Max loves to be groomed and have cuddles from our volunteers and at times falls asleep because he is so relaxed. He also loves food, but we must watch his intake due to his size.  We love our gorgeous gentle Max.
