Hilda came to live with us through one of our supporters on 8th October 2023. They had heard that Hilda was being picked on by the rest of her flock and her owner hadn’t known what to do so kept her in a cage in his flat. This wasn’t the life for a chicken, she deserved so much more, so we agreed to take her on and give her a better life.

She was reserved and quiet when we first welcomed her and she didn’t know quite what to make of her new surroundings but as the weeks went on, Marjorie, Barbs and Dotty helped her settle in.

Her personality has now blossomed, and she is a confident little lady who’s often the first to squawk at you when you have treats. She even comes running from the other side of the yard if she hears there are treats.

Hilda often needs encouragement to go to bed of an evening and we feel she is asking for 5 more minutes. We feel that this is because she now has freedom that she never experienced before and thoroughly enjoys it.

We do love her dearly.
